Scott Moss, a third grade teacher at Toler Elementary.– received
a Time Warner Cable National Teacher Award.
In addition to a $2000 cash grant, and a $3000 technology
grant for the school, Mr. Moss was honored during an awards event
June 5 in Washington, D.C. along with 14 other teachers from around
the country who developed winning classroom projects.
The award-winning entry from Mr. Moss, “MediaAbility,"
taught the students about media literacy by having students apply
critical thinking skills to television, films and the Internet.
In addition to analyzing media, students created videos and multimedia
projects.
Earlier in the 2006-2007 school year, Toler won two
awards from The
Technology Training Foundation of America. , Mr. Moss, received
a Technology Hero award for his various uses of technology
with Toler students. Among the projects Mr. Moss has led was the
production of a student-produced video,
Characters with Character and student-written interactive
multimedia stories.
Additionally, Toler received the Golden Mouse Award,
which recognizes the entire school's accomplishments with technology.
Toler's many technology-based projects include Ms.
Schock's class' student-written nonfiction book about Toler.
For this award, Toler received 30 computers from The Technology
Training Foundation of America (TTFA)!
During the 2005-2006 school year, Mr Moss' class was
given an iVIE Award for
the student video, Characters with Character
. iVIE stands for Innovative Videos in Education and is sponsored,
in part, by the San Diego Office of Education.
