School Administrators Return Friday

The official report date for school administrators is this Friday, August 22. All contract teachers report on Wednesday, August 27. Tuesday, September 2, is the first day of school for students.

Education Center Clean Up Day

Ed Center staff are encouraged to participate in a Clean Up Day, sponsored by the building committee, on Thursday, August 28.  Cleaning supplies will be provided and Rich Sheldon will coordinate extra crews for emptying bins and picking up items from offices, such as recycling, furniture, Cor-O-Van boxes, etc.  Beverages and snacks will be provided for all participants.  For more information, please contact Mary Ann Bakowicz at mbakowicz@sandi.net or (619) 725-7660.

Food Services Department Updates

Meal Applications - The 2008-09 Free & Reduced-Price Meal Application packets were distributed to year-round and summer school sites in July; traditional sites will be delivered August 21-22.  This is a “Household” application and Food Services only need to receive one meal application per household, regardless of what SDUSD site the children attend (the only exception to this is for Foster and Group Home children – they will still need individual meal applications).  Applications also include a Student Enrollment Report-Contact Sheet to be completed and faxed to Food Services in order to set up the email report for each school.  The student enrollment report will allow schools to check application and eligibility status on each student.

Pin Number Cards - Student Pin Number Cards will be distributed to elementary schools only.  Secondary schools will need to print the Pin Numbers on the Student Schedules; Pin Numbers are then downloaded into Zangle.  New Pin Numbers will be updated in Zangle by August 26th for students who have transferred from another school site, or new students that have been enrolled in Zangle.

PayPAMS - Parents will be able to access their child’s cafeteria account online and over the phone to make payments by using a MasterCard/Visa/Discover card.  Parents can access their child’s account by going to www.sandi.net/food and clicking on ‘Prepayment for Meals’ and link to www.PayPAMS.com – or by calling the automated telephone service at (888) 994-5100.  Parents will need their child’s Student I.D. Number to set-up the account.  Payments take three business days to update in the school’s cafeteria system.

For questions or more information on meal applications, pin numbers or PayPAMS, please  contact the Food Services Central Office at (858) 627-7328.

Update e-Pro “Ship To” Address

e-Pro requestors who have relocated to a different work location need to submit a DWA Security Request to update their default “Ship To” address when creating an e-Pro requisition. Insert your new “Ship To” address on the DWA Security Request in the “User Request Details” field. This update is especially important when ordering from Office Depot and other Direct Connect vendors. For information, contact Art Hanby at ahanby@sandi.net.

Mainly Mozart Living Composers Assembly Programs

Mainly Mozart Living Composers assembly programs are a cost-effective classical music experience for students.  Not only do children in the audience learn who Mozart and Beethoven are and gain exposure to their music – they also learn to enjoy classical music through a humorous pantomime format that brings history and music to a child’s level, allowing them to form a positive foundation for future music appreciation.  Assemblies can now be booked for Fall 2008/Spring 2009. Cost ranges from $295 for one performance to $550 for three same-day performances.  For more information, see (attached flyer Adobe PDF).
