The
Pershing
Community
ROCKS!

From Mr. Hillier and the Pershing Foundation

Parents really do make the difference!

The Pershing Foundation is happy to announce the purchase of ten new computers for the library computer lab. The addition of these new computers allows the lab to finally switch over to the Mac OS X. This is an important step in integrating the entire school to keep up with the ever changing advancements available to our students.

The Foundation is also looking into funding a much needed drinking fountain for the upper field. The process is in the beginning phase of doing a cost analysis but preliminary estimates look very promising. The drinking fountain would add much greater flexibility to our physical education program and be great for the community after school.

Parents really do make a difference. We invite all our parents to join the Foundation and make a difference for our school and the community. Wouldn't you like to be part of all the action? Come join us in making Pershing the best it can be for our children.

The Foundation's next meeting is on November 26, 2007 at
7:00 p.m. in the school library. Everyone is invited!

Attention 8th Grade Parents

Pershing Middle School would like to invite the parents of all 8th graders to a meeting presented by the Head Counselor, Marci Blodgett. We will begin by looking at the California high school graduation requirements and then discuss scheduling/enrollment for Patrick Henry. Finally, we will review the 8th grade Retention/Promotion Guidelines set forth by the San Diego Unified School District.

Mrs. Blodgett will be presenting this information twice. The dates are January 17 and 24, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. in the school auditorium. A reservation form for this event will be sent home with the 8th grade first quarter report cards. Please complete that form and return it to Mrs. Gunnerson, Pershing's Counseling Secretary, or your child's first period teacher. If you would like to download this form, please go http://www.sandi.net/pershing/counseling.htm
