Eleven Schools Honored for Academic Performance
California Business for Education Excellence Salutes Academics

Students from Florence
Students at Florence Elementary School joined ten other schools being honored for academic performance.
SAN DIEGO – Eleven San Diego Unified School District campuses have been honored for academic excellence by California Business for Academic Excellence, a group representing member businesses in the state.

The award goes to schools that are consistently raising academic achievement and closing achievement gaps for all students, based on data from Just for Kids-California. The schools are on track to reach 100% grade level proficiency for all their students in just a few years.

Schools were honored in two categories: Star Schools, which have a high poverty, high minority student population; and Scholar Schools, which have consistent high academic achievers without the economic and other challenges of Star Schools.

San Diego Unified’s Star School recipients were Euclid and Florence elementary schools, and Kearny High School of International Business.

Scholar Schools are Bird Rock, Dingeman, E. B. Scripps, Hearst, Jerabek, Kumeyaay and Sunset View elementary schools, and High Tech High.
