San Diego Unified Schools Will Be Closed October 23-26
Five Child Centers Open for Emergency Personnel

SAN DIEGO – As a result of the current fires, San Diego Unified School District campus will be closed the rest of the week, through Friday, October 26. At this time, schools are scheduled to reopen on Monday, October 29.

Reopening of individual schools will depend on the situation in the neighborhood and whether the school is being used as an emergency shelter.

Remaining open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., depending on demand, are five child development centers, providing daycare to children of district families, students and employees, as well as emergency responders. Children must be age 2 (potty-trained) through age 12. No transportation is available, but food is provided.

  • Open on a first-come, first-served basis until capacity.
  • Hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Children must be age 2 (potty-trained) through age 12.
  • No transportation will be provided.
  • Food will be provided.
  • Please call the CDC for availability. Only San Diego Unified employees with proper identification will be allowed at the CDCs to volunteer.
