Dear Gage Families,
Congratulations to all our Student Recognition Award Winners! We are
very proud of our students’ accomplish-ments and we want to thank
all the parents, grandparents and family members who were able to join
us for the special grade level ceremonies.
It has been brought to our attention that parents and
students are not crossing Bisby Lake either at the crosswalk directly
across the street from the school (Safety Patrol) or at the corner of
Bisby and Hudson. Instead, students and parents are crossing between
parked cars. This is extremely dangerous for all, we need to set a good
example by using the crosswalks, we don’t want anyone to be injured
because someone didn’t see them darting out into the street. Please
slow down when children are present. Thank you so much for helping us
to keep our students safe.
Reminder, students should not be dropped off at school before 7:30 a.m.
Morning supervision does not begin until 7:30, at which time students
can participate in the running club, eat breakfast in the cafeteria,
or line up on the blacktop.
I would, also, like to remind parents that students should not bring
valuable items like i-pods, PS2, or hand held games to school; cell
phones must be kept in the students’ backpacks during the school
day, they may only use them after school, we can not be responsible
if any of these items are lost or stolen.
I want to thank all the Gage families that have inquired about assisting
the Vergara family during their time of loss. We contacted our partner
in education, California Coast Credit Union; an account has been set
up in memory of Alana Marie Vergara, on the reverse side of this letter,
I’ve included that information if you wish to make a contribution.
Later this month, you will be receiving a phone message from Gage Elementary
using a new phone system called “Connect-ED”, a school-to-parent
communications system. You may recall that many of you received a phone
message from Dr. Cohen during the “fires”, now we, Gage,
are connected to that system. It is my hope to be able to use this communications
system to strengthen our school-to-parent communications.
