Dear Gage Families,
We are quickly approaching the end of the school year; included in this
letter is a list of upcoming events for families and students. At this
time, I would like to recognize Gage’s 2007-2008 “Volunteer
of the Year”, Ms. Martin. We would like to acknowledge her dedication
and outstanding work that she has done with our 4th grade students and
teacher in room 7. Ms. Martin will be entered into the district drawing
for a $200 prize with the other volunteers who worked the most hours
from each school sponsored by our partner California Coast Credit Union.
Congratulations to Ms. Martin and good luck in the contest!
On Friday, we will be holding our annual Walk-Jog-A-Thon sponsored by
the Gage Foundation. The money raised from this fundraiser will be used
to support all the students at Gage. This year the Walk-Jog-A-Thon will
be a little different; students in Kindergarten through Second grades
will be running, jogging/walking from 10:30-11:30 a.m.; Third through
Fifth grades will be running, jogging/walking from 1:00-2:00 p.m.
Next week, is a busy one! Our annual Scholastic Book Fair runs through
the week. This is a terrific way to purchase your son/daughter new books
to read during the summer vacation. Tuesday afternoon at 12:10 and 1:10,
the students will be treated to a music assembly, a performance by Mojalet;
parents are welcome to come (please sign in at the office). On Thursday,
May 22nd, we will be having our annual Spring Open House from 6:30-7:30
p.m., the book fair will be open from 5:30 p.m. in the library, and
Gage’s Student Council will be selling ice cream in the lunch
court. We hope to see you all there!
As a safety precaution, we ask that all parents/relatives or visitors
sign in at the office before proceeding on to the school campus. For
the safety of all our students, I want to thank you in advance for your
help in ensuring that we maintain a safe school.
Reminder: Students are not to be dropped off at school before 7:30 a.m.
There is no supervision prior to that time; morning supervision begins
at 7:30 a.m., at which time students may participate in the running
club, eat breakfast, or line up on the blacktop.
Students should not bring valuable items such as i-pods, PS2, or hand
held games to school; cell phones must be kept in the students’
backpacks during the school day. District Policy states that elementary
students may only use cell phones before and after school. Cell phones
must be kept out of sight and turned off during the instructional day;
including recess and lunch. School officials, including classroom teachers,
may take cell phones away from students if used during the times not
permitted. We are not responsible if any of these items are lost or
stolen.
