Dear Gage Families,
Happy New Year! I hope that everyone had an enjoyable winter vacation
and we are back in the swing again.
On January 11th, Gage students were treated to the sounds of Grassology,
who performed Bluegrass music. The students learned a little about the
various instruments that are used to create Bluegrass music, the bass,
the mandolin, the fiddle, the banjo, and the guitar. The students loved
the music! Thank you PTA for providing this wonderful music assembly!
Another reminder, students should not be dropped off at school before
7:30 a.m. Morning supervision does not begin until 7:30, at which time
students can participate in the running club, eat breakfast in the cafeteria,
or line up on the blacktop.
I would, also, like to remind parents that students should not bring
valuable items like i-pods, PS2, or hand held games to school; cell
phones must be kept in the students’ backpacks during the school
day, they may only use them after school, we can not be responsible
if any of these items are lost or stolen.
I want to thank all of the Gage families that have continued to inquire
about assisting the Vergara family during their time of loss. We contacted
our partner in education, California Coast Credit Union; an account
has been set up in memory of Alana Marie Vergara, on the reverse side
of this letter, I’ve included that information if you wish to
make a contribution.
Last month, you received two phone messages from Gage Elementary using
the new phone system called “Connect-ED”, a school-to-parent
communications system. If you did not receive the messages, we will
be contacting you over the next couple of weeks to update your phone
numbers. It is my hope to be able to use this communications system
to strengthen our school-to-parent communications.
