Creative, Performing, and Media Arts Middle School (CPMA) Magnet provides a challenging, standardbased instructional program, coupled with specialized training in the creative, performing, and technical arts. The integrated curriculum approach allows students to develop technical skills, meet rigorous academic standards, and be exposed to a variety of visual, performing, and media/technical art careers and related career options.

Students make use of six studios:

  • Visual Arts – where students learn art expression, principals of design, the fundamentals of drawing, costume design, and stagecraft
  • Graphics Design – featuring multimedia technologies including digital tablets, digital imaging, and desktop publishing software for creating dynamic and collaborative publications
  • Music/Electronics – with computers, midi-keyboards, audio mixing boards, and post-production editing equipment for music study, composition, and performance
  • Video Production – with digital cameras and non-linear video editing equipment for video production and filmmaking. Advanced students create, direct, and produce video news shows of school events, music
    videos, and documentaries.
  • Drama – where students use technology to create storyboards, write scripts, shoot and edit video “shorts,”
    and learn a variety of methods for live performance
  • Dance – emphasizing dance safety, technical strength, motor skill development and proper body
    alignment, dance vocabulary, history, careers, and related arts
