Welcome to the San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) Office of Enrollment Options web site. As part of the Office of School Choice, we are proud to offer a variety of enrollment options to students and parents throughout the city. May we suggest that you read through the Enrollment Options Catalog online and for more in depth information click on the different program headings at the top of this page. When you are ready to apply to a school, other than your neighborhood school, simply complete an Enrollment Options Application.

Millennial Tech Middle School to Open Fall 2008

San Diego Unified School District is proud to announce the opening of Millennial Tech Middle (MTM) School in Fall 2008. Applications are now being accepted for the new magnet school, which will focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The program will provide an exemplary and relevant educational program while meeting rigorous California state curriculum standards.

Millennial Tech Middle School will open as a dedicated magnet school; all students must apply to attend. The school will not have an attendance boundary and is open to all 6th and 7th grade students in and outside the San Diego Unified School District. Located at 1110 Carolina Lane, San Diego, 92102. The school will grow to include grades 6-8 in the 2009-10 school year.

New 2008-2009 Enrollment Options Catalog is now available on the internet and in print.

San Diego Unified School District 2008-2009 Enrollment Options Catalog is being sent to District families, school sites and is available on the internet. The catalog is currently available in English and Spanish, and by January 1 it will be also be available in Filipino, Somali, and Vietnamese. For additional print copies of the catalog, stop by your neighborhood SDUSD school office or call (619) 725-5672 or email the Office of Enrollment Options. Magnet Schools Assistance Program Grant Update

San Diego Unified School District received notice from the Honorable Susan A. Davis, on Friday, September 21 that the District is the recipient of the 2007-2010 Magnet Schools Assistance Program (MSAP) grant. We have been awarded $3.5 million for the first year. It is anticipated that the grant will be in effect for three years. More detailed information is due to follow and we will continue to update this site.

The SDUSD Magnet Schools Assistance Project will create four new magnet school programs and will significantly revise two existing magnet schools.The six magnet schools that will participate and their magnet themes are:

  • Barnard Elementary will offer Mandarin Chinese enrichment program (New)
  • Birney Elementary Academy of International Studies, Grades K-5
    will implement the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (New)
  • Johnson Elementary will offer an elementary Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) program (Revised)
  • Joyner Elementary will implement the MicroSociety program (New)
  • John Muir will implement the Paideia methodology and through global citizenship as the foundation for all instruction (Revised)
  • Millennial Tech Middle School will offer a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) program (New)

Second Semester Enrollment: The 2007-2008 Enrollment Options Application English|Español|Vietnamese|Somali|Tagalog is available for download, please follow procedures for second semester enrollment. The last day to apply using a 2007-2008 application for second semester enrollment is December 21.

Choose your method of completing the application:

We now offer four ways to apply:
  1. By US mail (mail to the address at the top of the application)
  2. Drop off at any SDUSD school office or the Enrollment Options Office (ask for a copy of your time-date stamped application - the school office will forward it to the Enrollment Options Office)
  3. By Fax
  4. Online! Enrollment Options Online Applications are not being accepted at this time. However, you may continue to apply in person or via fax through August 31. The Enrollment Options Online Application web site will become active again on October 1, 2007 for the 2008-2009 school year.

Please remember:

The Enrollment Options Application is for VEEP, Open Enrollment, Magnet and Program Improvement School Choice (PISC) options only.
Use one application for all your school choices: Magnet, VEEP, Open Enrollment and PISC.
Use another application for other family members including twins.

Enrollment Options will do the rest! Making it easier than ever before to apply! All other options including Charter, Alternative and Home Study, must be contacted directly.
