Overview
Part of the Chief District Relations Officer division, the primary functions of the Translation Unit are to:
- Provide written translation and oral interpretation services to schools, parent groups, central offices and the board of education.
- Ensure that English-limited parents have access to all information related to their children's schools, as well as to district policies and procedures.
- Services are provided for the following languages: Cambodian, Laotian, Somali, Spanish and Vietnamese.
Requesting Services
Please note, all services must be requested at least one week in advance. In addition, translation and interpretation services for Special Education-related issues are provided by the Special Education Programs Division.
Translation
To request translation services, fax, email or mail a completed Work Request form
to the Translation Unit. The following information is required:
- Contact person's name, phone number and email address.
- Date by which translation is needed.
- Languages in which you need your document.
Interpretation
The Translation Unit makes every effort to cover interpretation requests for parent meetings and other events held in the evenings only. Please make your arrangements early. Due to the high volume of requests, interpretation services for parent/teacher conferences cannot be offered.

- Any relevant material available.
- Languages for which you need interpretation services.
- Budget number to be charged for services.
