School Calendars

A district calendar must be adopted for regular instructional programs conducted during the ten-month traditional school year period, September through June. In addition, a calendar for single-track, year-round schools is developed to be consistent with traditional calendars as to the numbers of instruction days, teacher work days, holidays and break periods. Both require Board of Education approval.

School year calendars are developed by a District Calendar Committee, which reviews drafts and makes a recommendation for the approval of school year calendars. Committee membership includes parents, community members, principals, union officials and district staff.

A new District Calendar Committee will be formed this spring to begin reviewing drafts and forming recommendations for future traditional and year-round calendars.
